I'm still adding and updating work but I did it! I made a little shop for myself, finally! I'll post a longer follow up later with more details as to why I chose Threadless for now and what I think of it so far. But for now, go check it out and let me know what you think.
I just love this sketch. Not cuz of technique or growth or anything like that... but just cuz he looks like a fun time. Like, I'd hang out with this guy.
This sketch was tons of fun and happened really quickly. I didn't do a mockup or thumbnail before hand, just went for it (hence the wonky perspective going on). I just knew I wanted a monster coming out of a closet or something with some girls trying to hold it back. That was a thing that happened at sleepovers, right? Slumber parties, whatever you wanna call them. Everyone would sit around and tell spooky stories after dark and try to scare each other. Inevitably, someone would get dared to do the 'Bloody Mary' thing in the bathroom, alone, in the dark. And sometimes, you'd get lucky and get a screamer that would freak themselves out so much, their parents would have to come pick them up and take them home at 1am. Definitely not speaking from experience. #imisssleepovers
Inking panels... Took almost an hour... For 2... Must go faster lol. #venomfanart #comic #ink #slowprogress #drawing #digitalsketch via Instagram http://bit.ly/2SCNkiG
Aren't they just the cutest! I think this turned out considerably better than I thought it would. I was really expecting it to go sour, especially when I started doing the background. But I managed to pull it together in the end, I think. And isn't the pop of red fun! Idk why I did that. I just have all this colored inks and I wanted to make use of them. I maybe shouldn't have done the moon and stars in red... oh well. Still like it.
I have no clue where this idea came from. The prompt for the day was Roasted and I immediately thought FOOD lol. The rest of the little scene followed from there. Though I ended up having them roasting veggies, originally I was thinking about roasted meats. The perspective practice here was good for me, not that I executed it very well, but well enough to get the point across I think. And look! Another background?! What's the world coming to?!
Surprise! I did some more mermaids for Inktober. When you're trying to work quickly and under a tight timeline, it's much less stressful to go with things that feel good or come easily to you. For me, it's definitely mermaids and female bodies lol. I have mixed feelings about this drawing, though, cuz while I like the mermaid on the right, the one on the left feels so wonky to me (especially the hair and tail). But her hands came out well so there's that. Also, hey look at me! I drew a background! Time to party!
